Investing Your Time Properly
...Time as a currency...

By Lee Ridenour
From Ways & Means of Time Management - part of the Self-Evolution Ultimate Package

People often speak of “investing” your time. Time can be thought of as a monetary investment, in the sense that by putting the correct amounts in the right places, you may prosper greatly later in life, and even immediately in the present. Likewise, time can be thought of as a self-investment in the sense that by spending the right amounts doing things that you enjoy, or things that improve your mental, spiritual or physical state, you may easily lead a happy and healthy life.

“Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent. Be careful lest you let other people spend it for you.”

- Carl Sandburg

Unless you are extremely wealthy, you have a very limited income, and must carefully decide which investments you wish to place your money into. Likewise with time, you must place it into the areas that are important to you in order to live a fulfilling life. Money may be replicated, earned, traded, lost and regained; time however, cannot.

“Time is more valuable than money. You can get more money, but you can’t get more time.”

- Jim Rohn

You are only provided with a set amount of time in the duration of your life. You may be reading this book realizing you have already placed a large portion of it into the wrong “investments,” or you may be very happy with the investments you have chosen to spend your time on. Part of living a happy life is not regretting the ways in which you’ve spent your time! Due to the very limited nature of our time as humans, we must be weary of how much time we have spent in which areas, along with how much time we have left to spend - much as one monitors and balances their checkbook.
